Another state is called for Trump as he prepares for transition of power. Here’s what to know

President-elect Donald Trump has won the battleground state of Nevada, CNN projects, bringing his electoral vote count to 301 as his team begins preparing for the transfer of power ahead of the inauguration next January. CNN has yet to project a win in Arizona.

Here’s what to know:

Trump flips Nevada: The state had voted blue in the last two elections, in favor of Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden — so this marks a shift to the right.
House results: CNN also projected that Democratic Rep. Susie Lee will win reelection in Nevada, while Democrat Josh Riley will flip a critical swing seat in New York as the party tries to win a House majority. GOP Reps. Scott Perry in Pennsylvania and Don Bacon in Nebraska will both win re-election, CNN projects.
Balance of power yet to be called: It is still unclear which party will control the House. It could take a week or more before the majority is determined. With some races still yet to be called, Republicans have 212 seats and Democrats have 200. Either party needs 218 seats to have a majority. In the Senate, Republicans will win control, with at least 52 seats so far.
Shaping the Cabinet: Trump has tapped campaign manager Susie Wiles for his White House Chief of Staff — the first woman to hold the role. All eyes are on who Trump will select for other key roles — including the US attorney general, with sources telling CNN Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is under consideration for the spot.
Racist texts: Authorities nationwide are investigating after several people, including college students and children, received text messages from unknown numbers saying they had been “selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation.” The texts came in the days after the election, and were reported in states including Maryland, New Jersey, Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, Nevada, New York and South Carolina.
Biden vows orderly transition: President Joe Biden spoke from the White House Rose Garden on Friday, saying people deserve a “peaceful and orderly” transfer of power. He encouraged people to accept the election results, praised Vice President Kamala Harris, and tried to comfort a defeated base.
San Francisco mayor: London Breed, the city’s first Black female mayor, has conceded the race to Levi Strauss heir Daniel Lurie — a philanthropist and anti-poverty nonprofit founder.
