Trump picks Mehmet Oz to serve as Medicare and Medicaid services administrator

President-elect Donald Trump watched Tuesday’s SpaceX rocket launch in Brownsville, Texas, alongside Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) and U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations Gen. B. Chance Saltzman.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk explained the launch to the crowd before taking Trump into an operations area.

Members of Trump’s family, including his son Donald Trump Jr. and his granddaughter Kai Trump were also in attendance.

Despite reports suggesting that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) said there would be no recess appointments, the outgoing Senate minority leader told reporters on Tuesday that he hasn’t addressed the topic.

“No, there have been all kinds of rumors floating around, but I haven’t addressed that issue,” McConnell said during a news conference. “We’ll just see how this unfolds.”

McConnell would not say whether he opposed the use of recess appointments, which would allow Donald Trump to bypass the traditional confirmation process and appoint his Cabinet picks without Senate approval when he becomes president.
